Architecture Box 003/Bat Box Prototype

Bats are highly complex animals that have existed for more than 50 million years.
Today, bats and their habitat are in danger of extinction.
The Bat Box Prototype offers new, protective space for these fascinating animals.
It contains a removable drawer that houses a rare selection of night-scented flower seeds.
The seeds can be planted near the box to start off a new habitat:
The night-scented flowers attract nocturnal insects and these attract bats.
The Bat Box is made of untreated timber, since bats clean themselves by licking their fur.
Chemical weather protection of timber is toxic and therefore most contemporary architecture threatens the survival of bats. On the box's exterior you find simple guidelines on how to create a bat-friendly habitat next to your own.
